DRUG TASK FORCE GORE RANGE NARCOTICS INTERDICTION TEAM (GRANITE)

The Sheriff’s Office has a drug enforcement unit called the Gore Range Narcotics Interdiction Team (G.R.A.N.I.T.E) that is composed of peace officers from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office and with the Vail Police Department.  We work together, in a greater effort to get dangerous drugs off the streets in our community. These highly trained investigators work with local and federal law enforcement agencies to arrest drug dealers throughout the county.

G.R.A.N.I.T.E investigators are trained at criminal interdictions and capable of working in many capacities. These included but are not limited to crowd control, K9, human trafficking, homicides and many others.

Numerous studies conducted by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) found that drugs and crime are interrelated. The NIJ has found that drug addicts have a stronger tendency to commit crimes.
