Gypsum, Colo. - We are heartbroken to announce we are actively investigating a juvenile fatality.
On Wednesday, April 24, 2024 just before 10 p.m., Eagle County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Second Street Park in Gypsum for a reported disturbance involving several people and that there were injuries. Deputies arrived and found that multiple teenagers had been involved in an altercation and that during the incident, one teenager was seriously injured.
The juvenile suspect had fled the scene prior to deputy’s arrival and the victim was transported for life-saving treatment. The victim later succumbed to their injuries.
The suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident and remains in police custody. This incident is being investigated as a homicide.
We thank the community for their patience and understanding during this extremely difficult time for all involved. As this is an active investigation, we have no additional information to release at this time.

La Oficina del Sheriff investiga un altercado juvenil mortal
Gypsum, Colo. - Estamos con el corazón roto al anunciar que estamos activamente investigando una muerte juvenil.
El Miércoles, 24 de Abril 2024 justo antes de las 10 p.m., agentes de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Eagle fueron llamados al Parque de la Calle Segunda en Gypsum por un disturbio reportado que involucraba a varias personas y que había heridos. Los oficiales llegaron y encontraron que varios adolescentes habían estado involucrados en un altercado y que durante el incidente, un adolescente resultó gravemente herido.
El sospechoso juvenil había huido del lugar antes de la llegada de los oficiales y la víctima fue trasladada para recibir tratamiento vital. La víctima murio más tarde debido a sus heridas.
El sospechoso fue detenido poco después del incidente y permanece bajo custodia policial. Este incidente se está investigando como homicidio.
